Passing NotesNote 01

You can talk to AI

September 27, 2026 · 1 min read

I mention this in meetings all the time, and I always get the same look. "Wait. I didn't know you could do that."

So here's my note to you: you don't have to type to AI. You can just talk.

ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot all have a microphone button. Tap it and say what you need. Ramble. Say "um." Stop halfway and start over. It still turns your words into a clear request.

Most of them also have a voice mode. That's a real back-and-forth conversation, like a phone call. You ask a question, it answers out loud, and you keep going.

I started doing this back when I needed a separate app to make it work. Now it's built into the tools you already have.

Why talking beats typing

  • It's faster. Most of us talk three or four times faster than we type.
  • You give more detail, so you get better answers.
  • Saying it out loud helps you figure out what you want.

Try this today

Open the AI app on your phone, tap the microphone, and say: "Help me write a short, friendly text to my sister about planning Thanksgiving." Watch what comes back.

You'll feel a little silly the first time. Do it anyway.

Let's figure this out together.
